Talks and Workshops

If you run a group or an organization, you might like to book a talk about acupuncture. As an experienced teacher and communicator, Harriet can provide an interesting evening for clubs, societies and support groups such as;

Talks can be designed for your special interest, or can be a general talk about what acupuncture is, what it's like to have treatment and what sort of conditions can be treated successfully. A simple demonstration of acupuncture can be included, but it isn't possible to actually carry out treatments in a meeting.

Workshops

Harriet is available to run workshops or short courses on acupressure techniques. Acupressure is a hands-on technique which uses 'pressure' instead of 'puncture' on the acupuncture points. It has many of the benefits of acupuncture treatment, but is much safer to use.

This especially useful for masseurs, beauty therapists and other body workers to enhance and extend their practice.

Acupressure can also be useful to anyone wanting to learn some first aid or self-help techniques that they can use for themselves and their family and friends. Headaches, period pains and nausea are just some of the conditions that this effective therapy can treat.

Harriet teaches acupressure techniques to couples at Sophie Carr's Birth Preparation Classes in York. This specialist workshop shows birth partners how to use acupressure pain-relieving techniques during labour. There are certain acupressure points which are very useful during childbirth, both for the relief of pain, and for stimulating the uterus to contract efficiently.
